COMPANY HISTORY
Sala Distillery
Founded in 1909 by Carlo Sala in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan), the Sala Distillery was one of the most dynamic and influential names in Italian distillation until the late 1950s.Origins and VisionAt the turn of the 20th century, Sesto San Giovanni was experiencing rapid industrial growth. However, its founder, Carlo Sala, possessed an entrepreneurial foresight that set him apart from the steel and iron industry: he envisioned creating a distillery capable of producing high-quality liqueurs and spirits. Drawing inspiration from Italian tradition while embracing modern techniques, he sought to craft exceptional products. With an eye on the growing competition from local distilleries, Carlo meticulously selected the finest natural ingredients and employed artisanal methods, quickly establishing the Sala Distillery as a name synonymous with refinement.

Business Growth
In the decades that followed, the distillery solidified its position as a leading brand. Sala liqueurs were recognized for their perfect balance of flavors and aromas, reaching markets beyond Lombardy. Notable products included bitter, fernet, vermouth, amaretto, eggnog cognac, grand liqueur, and a distinctive juniper distillate—each embodying elegance and quality. In the 1940s, the iconic futuristic logo was introduced, marking the peak of the distillery’s success and allowing it to endure even through the challenges of wartime.

The Futuristic Logo
The logo, an "S" designed to represent a seahorse drinking from a glass, perfectly captured the innovative spirit of the time. The sinuous lines evoke the fluidity of the distillate, while the seahorse's nose touching the glass symbolizes taste and enjoyment. The choice of red, blue, and yellow accents communicated both luxury and energy. This design was more than just a logo; it conveyed the core values of the distillery: tradition and innovation, movement and pleasure, refinement and modernity. With this fresh identity, the Sala Distillery stood out in the competitive liquor industry as a forward-thinking and pioneering brand.
